How to Pick a Lock With a Paperclip
Picking a lock with a paperclip isn’t as difficult as it might seem. With the proper knowledge, it can be done easily and quickly. This article will provide step-by-step instructions on how to pick a lock with a paperclip.
Step 1: Gather Materials
Gather all necessary materials before starting. You’ll need one paperclip, a flathead screwdriver, and a pair of needle-nose pliers or thin tweezers.
Step 2: Straighten the Paperclip
Straighten out the paperclip so that it resembles a thin rod. Don’t make it too thin or too thick, as the paperclip will need to fit inside of the lock.
Step 3: Make the Lifting Tool
Use the flathead screwdriver to make a small indentation in the curtain end of the paperclip. This should fit snugly over the locking mechanism of the lock.
Step 4: Insert the Lifting Tool
Insert the paperclip with the indentation into the lock. Turn the paperclip counterclockwise until it locks into place. Once it is secure, insert the needle-nose pliers or tweezers into the keyhole.
Step 5: Lift the Lock
Very slowly, pull the paperclip up and away from the lock. As you do this, the lock should start to open. Go slowly and carefully to avoid damaging the lock.
Step 6: Open the Lock
Once the lock is lifted, slowly turn and open the lock. Enough force is needed at this point to be able to open the lock. Once it is open, you can use the lock again or opt to try a different lock.
Safety Precautions
It is important to take safety precautions when attempting to pick a lock with a paperclip. If you are inexperienced, it is recommended that you get professional help. If you choose to continue, make sure that you have the proper tools and enough knowledge to do so safely.
