What is Dry Canning & Why It Matters

Dry canning is a food preservation technique that involves sealing food in airtight containers to keep it fresh and edible for longer periods. Unlike traditional canning methods, dry canning does not use a liquid such as water or brine; instead, it relies on airtight seals to keep in the moisture within the food. How to Dry Can Food

Dry canning is relatively simple and can be done in four easy steps:

  3. Seal the container tightly. Use two-piece lids to ensure a tight seal. Be sure to screw on the lids tightly as loose lids can lead to contamination.
  4. Label and store the containers in a cool, dark place. You can store the containers in a pantry, or in a refrigerator or freezer, depending on the type of food you are storing.
