Growing Peppers Indoors – Guidelines & Tips

Choose Varieties for Indoor Growing
Not all pepper varieties are suitable for indoor growing. Look for varieties that have a short maturity date (typically between 60-80 days from planting) and that produce smaller fruits. Some varieties to start with are Serrano, Pimiento, and Tabasco.
Start Seeds Early
Most peppers need a hot temperature in order to germinate, which can be difficult to achieve indoors. Start your peppers 6-8 weeks before the last frost of the season to ensure you have enough time for the plants to mature before the weather cools.
Choose Containers
Peppers need plenty of space to grow, so use large containers or even sacks of potting soil. Make sure the container has drainage holes at the bottom.
